Why Mud Volleyball?
A mud volleyball tournament was chosen as a way to raise money for The Water Project, Inc. because it will be an entertaining and unique way for the students at Western Michigan University and members of the surrounding communities to get involved with each other while contributing to a great cause.
Mud volleyball tournaments have become increasingly popular over the past few years. Like a traditional game of volleyball, there are a number of teams, six players each, competing in a bracket style tournament. The difference between the two is the added element of water. The ground for the court is rototilled and thoroughly hosed down during the days leading up to the event to make thick mud, which allows for a difficult but comical game of volleyball.
We chose to organize a mud volleyball tournament instead of just a traditional volleyball tournament because we believed “getting dirty to get clean” would be an exciting way to raise money for The Water Project, Inc. And who doesn’t like getting a little dirty every now and then?
About the Tournament
